mWater helps governments, utilities and service providers, and organizations use data to increase access to safe water and sanitation around the world.
Our proven data-driven management approach focuses on building local capacity to turn data into action. This is enabled by our free and open-access data management platform, which democratizes the tools of data analytics to collect, analyze, and collaborate using modern digital and mobile technology.
We believe that the first step to improving water and sanitation services and attracting more investment to the sector is to create reliable data systems. Using reliable data to plan, execute, and evaluate results leads to positive cycles of increasing performance, public confidence, and financial investment. We help our partners and over 250,000 free users of our software platform to become data-driven, regardless of where they are located or their level of capacity.
We are working on a global sanitation asset standard.
We work with hundreds of partners across the world.
Our software can be described as a combination of Google Forms for survey data collection, Excel for data cleaning, ArcGIS for spatial analysis, PowerBI for dashboard creation, and QuickBooks for utility fee collection. This free, easy-to-use platform helps low-resource governments manage infrastructure and personnel tasks like maintenance or emergency response. It supports data collection through a mobile app available in dozens of languages. Although designed for government use, many academic researchers use it for affordable data collection and analysis. Students might find any of our features useful, and there's a wealth of open-access data on water resources from users in two hundred countries.

Data platform
mWater provides a free, scalable technology platform that enables data-driven management by governments, utilities, water authorities, NGOs, and private sector partners. We designed our data platform from the ground up to use modern mobile and cloud technologies to help democratize data.
Free and open: All features of the mWater platform are free for unlimited use. Anyone can sign up for an account and start collecting data in minutes.
Your data belongs to you: Our users own their data and decide what to share and what to keep private. We will never sell access to data or share it with anyone. This promotes platform adoption, long-term usage, and client independence.
Designed for collaboration: mWater makes it easy to share data and collaborate with governments to monitor public infrastructure. We also provide a library of standard forms and indicators to help make data comparable.
Secure and reliable: All mWater data is stored in our secure cloud-based servers, which allows us to maintain the highest security and reliability. Users can download any or all of their data at any time, and everything is automatically backed up.
The free platform model, along with the technical assistance and training that mWater provides to partners and local firms, helps to modernize governance systems for the WASH sector and promotes standardized approaches to management.
The mWater platform has become one of the most widely used in the WASH sector with over 200,000 accounts in 197 countries.
