Senior Research Specialist

Sydney is a public health researcher who holds a doctorate in Environmental Health Sciences and a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from Emory University. With 15 years of experience in infectious disease surveillance across a variety of settings and sectors, she has developed a deep interest in the environmental determinants of infectious diseases and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) research. The majority of her work and research in the WASH sector has focused on large-scale water and sanitation infrastructure investments in urban settings. Her dissertation research focused on the impact of weather and climate on WASH interventions with a focus on water infrastructure upgrades in a climate-vulnerable, urban coastal setting in Mozambique. Sydney is consistently excited and motivated by novel and equitable approaches to increase WASH access across the globe.
